Product Review: Maybelline Superstay Foundation

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to the blog today.

Today, I have a review of the Maybelline Superstay Foundation. I've been testing this foundation for two (2)months.....yes, TWO (2) months! This is the longest I've ever taken to test a product, and that's mainly because I've been having a hard time deciding whether or not I love this foundation.
I have this in the shade 310 Sun Beige, which is the lightest shade that is carried here in Trinidad. Firstly, I am not pleased with the colour selection available in Trinidad. This is a consistent issue with "drugstore" base makeup locally. I am far from the lightest complexion you'll see in Trinidad, and they carry too few shades for deeper complexions also. One would think that in a racially, and ethnically diverse country, the cosmetics being imported would reflect that diversity, but it does not.
Secondly, the pricing will vary according to the store you purchase it. I paid between TT$65-70 for mine, but I believe some stores have it for more than that.

Product Claims
This foundation claims to be/have;
  • Full Coverage
  • Matte finish
  • Lasts for 24 hours
  • Breathable and Comfortable
  • Fade and Transfer-Resistant
  • Oil-free (Doesn't clog pores)
Does it live up to its claims?
I've worn this foundation for 8+ hours, and while my skin did get oily, the foundation itself was flawless. I didn't experience it breaking down throughout the day. The entire time I wore it it didn't feel heavy on the skin, and there was no sign of it fading in pigment or coverage during the day. I did experience a small amount of product transfer when my skin was oily, but it didn't impact the coverage whatsoever.

This foundation is full coverage. It hid any breakouts I was experiencing and it did not accentuate any pores when worn with a primer (I always wear primer underneath foundations). I love to apply this foundation with a damp makeup sponge (I use the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge),or with a buffing brush like the elf Ultimate Blending Brush. I get the same level of coverage with both tools, however, the brush requires a bit more time to seamlessly blend the foundation into the skin.
The left side of my face (right side of the picture)is bare. The right side of my face (left side of the picture) is310 Sun Beige.
I saw many people complaining that they got very oily throughout the day being one of the main reasons why they didn't like this foundation. However, the foundation does not claim to be an oil-controlling foundation. I do have combination/oily skin, and I do get oily regardless of the oil-controlling abilities of a foundation, so it didn't really bother me or my opinion of the product. A quick blot with blotting paper, and its good to go.
Regarding the claim of not clogging pores, I have not experienced any breakouts, or increase in blackheads or clogged, congested pores since I started using this foundation.

First Impression versus Continued Use
When I first tried this foundation, I fell in love with the coverage but nothing else. I thought it felt super heavy, and looked cakey, and I just wanted to get it off my face that day. On this first use, I had used 2 full pumps of foundation, so I decided the next time I used it I would use less product. This was the key to falling in love with this foundation. Less product is important. We live in a world of social media videos showing gurus piling on layers upon layers of product, which may translate great on camera but in everyday life, not so much. This was why I initially disliked this foundation, I was too heavy handed. Now I tend to use 1 full pump all over my face, and then if I feel the need to add more coverage I use a touch of concealer, however, I've found myself refraining from concealer because this foundation does such a good job at covering whatever I want to cover.

Final Thoughts
This foundation has many mixed reviews, and initially I didn't want to try it because of this. However, I am a believer in trying out products and forming my own opinions, as well as my genuine curiosity as to whether or not this foundation can hold up in a tropical climate. During the two months of testing, Trinidad has had some incredibly hot and humid days, and while I did get oily, the foundation itself held up very well. Honestly, I believe with a good mattifying primer, and good setting powder and setting spray, this foundation is worth the money.

Thank you all so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed.
I'm playing around with the format of my review(s) posts here, hence why no review blog post is the same. Feel free to let me know what elements you like or dislike, and I can adapt that into future posts.
Until next time, stay happy, healthy and positive.

Makeup Play #4: All Dat Drama!?!

Hello everyone!

This past week, I posted a poll to my IG story, asking if I should post the details of my latest Instagram post (see below) here on my blog and the answer was Yes!
Via my Instgram - @ladyjpsych
I'm here today, to break down this look. However, there will be no tutorial or demonstration of this look via video, but I do hope that you still enjoy this post and product breakdown.

Eyes

The star of this look is....(imaginary drum roll!)... L.A Colors Sweet!Sixteen Eyeshadow Palette in Brave.
I will do a full review of this palette at the end of November as I am still playing around and experimenting with the different colours.

This palette provided the majority of the eye look, with the exception of the lid colour..
While there is no video, I have done a bit of a breakdown of the eyeshadows used from the palette, and where they were placed on the eye.

Awkwardly Edited Photo - L.A. Colors Sweet!Sixteen Palette in Brave
N.B. - The numbers correspond with the respective colours, and not the order in which they were applied.

BASE: I used colour #14 as my all over base to set my Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I mixed colours #15 and #16 as my transition shades.

CREASE: Colours #7 and #12 were used in the crease, and they were blended out with colour #5.

OUTER CORNER: Colours #9 and then #4, where used to add depth and smokiness to the outer corner. I also mixed in a bit of "Rebel" from the Tartlette in Bloom Palette, to enhance the smokiness with some warmth.

LID: I'm wearing Makeup Geek's Pigment in Utopia on top of a glitter glue. My eyes are hooded so without a glitter glue, pigments, and shimmer tend to travel beyond where I typically place them.
In order to blend the pigment with the eyeshadows, I used colour #6 which is very similar in colour to Utopia, and it allowed for a seamless transition from lid colour to outer corner.

LOWER LASH LINE: I smudged L'Oreal Silkissime Eyeliner in Black, with colour #9, and "Rebel" from the Tartlette in Bloom Palette, for smokey definition to finish off the eyeshadow look.

REST OF THE FACE

Brows: NYX Tame and Frame in Black
Eyeliner: L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Whipped in Natural Tan (370) + L'Oreal True Match W6
Concealer: L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Pure Beige
Powder: Sacha Buttercup (Undereye), Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in Medium (Face)
Contour: BH Cosmetics Contour and Blush 2 palette
Highlight: Milani Strobelight in Afterglow + NYX Illuminator in Ritualistic
Blush: City Color Cosmetics Matte Blush in Papaya
Lips: NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Stone Fox

We've reached the end of this post, and I do hope you all enjoyed!
Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to do a live Get Ready with me on my Instagram. Would you guys like that? Let me know either in the comments here, or over on my Instagram (@ladyjpsych). Feel free to let me know if you'd like me to review another product I've used in this post.
Thank you all for stopping by today, and I'll see you very soon.

Product Review: Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

Hello Everyone!

I've returned, to bring you a quick product review on the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.
Micellar cleansing waters have become an essential item within the beauty community, and this is the first time I've seen a Trinidadian store carrying any brand of Micellar water.

I found mine randomly at my SuperPharm, and it cost me approximately TT$60. The bottle contains 13.5 fl.oz, which is great for the price.

Product Claims: This All-in-1 bi-phase cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes makeup, cleanses skin and refreshes. A multi-purpose cleanser that contains Micellar technology. The micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil, and makeup without harsh rubbing, leaving the skin perfectly clean and refreshed without over-drying.
This product is also:
  • Oil-free
  • Alcohol-free
  • Fragrance-free

My Hope: My hope for this, was that it could be a suitable replacement for my Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover, which I believe is discontinued.

My Experience: I used this the very same night I purchased it, and I must say I was impressed. It removed my eye makeup with such ease, and that day I was wearing my waterproof Maybelline Colossal Mascara, and that stuff just does not budge. I also used it to remove any residual residue left behind by my makeup remover wipes.

Post-Mascara Removal
Now, this photo isn't the greatest quality, however, this product did a really good job at removing the waterproof mascara, without me having to harshly rub my eyes with the cotton pad. Unlike the Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover, it does not leave behind any slickness, the Micellar Water just leaves your face feeling refreshed and clean.

I actually really enjoyed using this, and it is good for spot clean ups also, especially for winging out your eyeliner.

Conclusion: Considering the price, and the amount of product that you'll be getting, this is a good product to invest in. To me, it is a good replacement for my Maybelline Makeup Remover, and it feels better on my skin. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that I enjoy using this product, and it is now a staple on my vanity.

Thank you all so much for stopping by for this quick review. I know I've been missing in action (M.I.A), for close to 5 weeks now, but my semester is really long and drawn out, and I've just been getting increasingly fatigued and frustrated with it all. I do hope to be back to posting regularly now, however, I have become more active on my Instagram (@ladyjpsych), so feel free to follow me there. Again, thank you for the support, and as always until next time, I hope you all stay happy, healthy and positive.

Bye (^_^)/

Best in Beauty 2015: Lips

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a great week. I'm a bit tired after my first week back to classes, this semester is going to be a tough one.
Today, we finish off my Best in Beauty 2015, with lip products.
I have a fair amount to go through, so let's get started!

Lip Liner

NYX Nude Truffle (top), Avon Mystery Mauve (below)
Hands down my most used, and most love lip liners for 2015. Avon Mystery Mauve is a beautiful mauve neutral shade, which I've almost completely used up, and sadly since Avon is no longer available in Trinidad, I can't repurchase it. I'm on the hunt for a similar shade, and I will let you know, once I find it.
Nude Truffle is a beautiful neutral nude shade, both are extremely creamy, and apply easily.
Lip Liner Swatches
Lipstick

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte - Touch of Spice
Maybelline Touch of Spice
This shade was very "on trend" for 2015. The colour is a mauve toned brown, and it is very creamy and pigmented. Although this is a matte formula, it does not dry out my lips. I'm half-way through my bullet, and considering that I've been heavily into liquid lipsticks in 2015, this is quite the feat.

NYX Simply Nude Lip Cream in Sable

2015, the year I spoke constantly about this lip cream. It is super buttery, and creamy, extremely pigmented, and doesn't dry out my lips. I don't have a bad thing to say about this product.

Revlon Colorstay Matte Balm Shameless
Revlon Matte Balm Shameless
When applied in 2 or more layers, it is a super vampy, dark purple lip, however, applied lightly, it is a strong vibrant purple. It is very comfortable on the lips, I adore the Revlon Matte Balms, I even got my mom hooked on them now. I have more in my collection, however, for 2015 this was my go-to. I wore it to classes, to go out, I just adore this shade.

L'oreal La Lacque in Lacquey-You
Super shiny, moisturizing, and pigmented. It has a scent similar to Aloe Vera Vaseline, which I actually really like. This was a random, spur of the moment purchase in 2015, but I do really enjoy using this when I'm not feeling for a matte lip. Plus, it is easy enough to keep in my handbag constantly.

Liquid Lipsticks

Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo
Lolita is described as a chesnut rose, while Lolita II is a terracotta nude. Very true to description. They last all day on the lips without being extremely drying. They don't flake off at all. I love these. I want more.
Swatches of Lolita and Lolita II
ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Limbo

Firstly, this is the perfect dupe for LimeCrime Salem. Secondly, it is more comfortable on the lips than the LimeCrime. This was my first experience with Colourpop Cosmetics, and now they have me wishing they shipped internationally. The Ultra Matte Lips are beautifully, and I'm definitely going to get my hands on some more eventually.
It applies easily, takes approximately 10-20 seconds to dry, and is very opaque. Wears well throughout the day, and remains comfortable, with no cracking.

L.A Girl Flat Matte Pigment Gloss in Rebel
Can you tell I have a love for purple?!
Gorgeous colour, however, it is very drying so ensure you moisturise your lips before with a rich lip balm, and exfoliate your lips before use, because this is not a forgiving formula. Nonetheless, it is easy to apply. It does tend to crack at the center of the lip, but despite that I still really like it. Of the 4 I own, this is the most used.

Lipgloss
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pink Pop

When applied to the lips, this lipgloss is a sheer wash of pink. This however, has to be one of the most moisturising lipglosses I have ever used. When my lips are feeling dry and sad, but I want to wear a little bit of colour, this is what I turn to. I actual got this on sale, and I'm happy I did. This lipgloss formula is the bomb.

We are finally at the end of this blog post, and the end of my Best in Beauty 2015 series.
Thank you all for coming by today! I truly appreciate it!
As always, I hope you stay happy, healthy and positive! And here's hoping you have a wonderful weekend and week ahead!

Bye!

Best in Beauty 2015: Face

Welcome back everyone!
I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I have part 2 of my Best in Beauty series, and today it's all about my favourite face products for 2015. Most of the products being mentioned may have full reviews that I will link to at the end the post.

Primer and Mattifier:

elf Cosmetics Mineral Face Primer

New Bottle
This primer is definitely my top pick for 2015. I always repurchase this primer. This primer blurs my pores, and helps my foundation apply more evenly.
Earlier in 2015, I fell in love with the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer, but I haven't been able to repurchase it since it hasn't been in stock. However, the elf Mineral Face Primer is cheaper than the Rimmel.

Sacha Cosmetics Mattifier Face Primer

I do have a full review of this, but to keep it short and sweet. This mattifies the skin beautifully, and keeps me less oily than I would usually be throughout the day. I love the squeeze tube packaging, and its flat black matte finish.

Foundation:

Maybelline Fit Me: Matte and Poreless 310 Sun Beige
I'm currently down to half a bottle of this foundation. I don't think I have anything bad to say about this product, maybe it can use a pump, then again most drugstore foundations don't come with a pump. This just blends effortlessly into the skin, it doesn't matter if you use a sponge or a brush.
My full review will be linked below.

Concealer:

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Pure Beige

I've never really been into using concealer, but doing my Masters' Degree means long, and sometimes sleepless nights, and I also experience insomnia therefore under eye darkness is my old friend. This shade matches my complexion perfectly, and covers up any discolouration or darkness beneath the eyes.

Setting Powder:

Undereyes: Sacha Cosmetics Buttercup Loose Powder

Full review is available.
I have nothing bad to say about this powder. Sacha Cosmetics has greatly improved the quality of their products over the years.
This powder is silky, and just beautiful. I use it to set my concealer under my eyes.
Face: Maybelline Fit Me: Matte and Poreless Powder
Maybelline Fit Me: Matte-Poreless 310 Sun Beige
Soft, blendable and keeps me matte. (Review will be linked below).

Blush:

Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose and City Color Cosmetics Be Matte Blush in Papaya

Both of these blushes are matte in finish, they are also very smooth and pigmented, so a little goes a long way. they blend out easily. Both colours are very neutral, and good for everyday wear.
These blushes wear for a full 8 hours.
The City Color Blushes are a lot cheaper than the Milani, they retail for approximately TT$22-TT$25, while the Milani ranges from TT$55-TT$65.

Milani Romantic Rose (left), City Color Cosmetics Papaya (right)

Setting Sprays: Sacha Fix It & L'Oreal Infallible Pro Spray and Set
My go-to Setting Sprays
Both set my makeup beautifully, and reduces the "cakey" look that powders leave behind. However, the L'oreal truly prolongs the wear of my makeup throughout the day. The Fix It Spray, while it doesn't prolong the wear of my makeup, does a good job at just setting the face. I tend to interchange my use of these products, hence why they're both 2015 favourites.

I don't bronze, contour or highlight my face, therefore I have no favourites for those categories.

Thank you all so much for stopping by!
Next week, I'll be concluding this Best in Beauty 2015 with Lips. I'm also going to be beginning my second semester for my Masters' Degree, and I am anxious.
As always stay happy, healthy, and positive and I will talk to you all soon.

Bye! (^_^)/

First Impression Review: Maybelline Pump Up Colossal Mascara

Hello everyone!
Today's post is a first impression/quick review of the Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Mascara.
Maybelline Pumped Up Mascara in Classic Black

I wore it for the first time last night, I have to admit I was impressed. It gave my lashes great volume, and some definition. It was easily available without getting clumpy. The formula in my eyes is the perfect consistency, not too wet or too dry, and it applies beautifully onto the lashes, and it stays put. I've also had no flaking and I have not seen any smudges either.

Colossal Wand (top), Pumped Up Wand (bottom)
The brush is massive, so it helps build volume. The bristles are short and spiky towards the ends, and slightly longer in the middle, grabbing each lash for full volume and definition. I don't have the best eyelashes in the world, but this mascara makes them look full and lush.
Compared to the regular Colossal Mascara from Maybelline, I do prefer the wand of the Pumped Up a lot more.
Wearing Pumped Up Colossal on my lashes
For a random mascara pick up, I am surprised. I'm not a hardcore Maybelline mascara fan, but this mascara is good.
I'd honestly repurchase the Pumped Up over the regular Colossal any day.
Pumped Up has won my heart...a bit
Thanks for stopping by today. I know the post is very short, but I have multiple assignments due soon, so I have to put a lot of time into those.
However, this is a first impression, so I wouldn't have a lot to say after just one use.
As always, I hope you have a safe and fun weekend. If you're a student like me, make it a productive weekend.
Stay healthy, positive and happy, and I shall talk you again next Friday.
Bye (^_^)/

July Makeup Favourites!

Hello darlings!

Welcome to my July Makeup Favourites! I'm actually really excited for this post, July was a great month for me, coming down to the end, and I can't wait to see what August has in store for me. Without keeping you in a realm of my endless blabbering, let's get started on this past month's favourites.

July Makeup Favourites
Face:

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless
Fit Me Matte and Poreless 310 Sun Beige
  • I have been reaching for this foundation more than my L'Oreal foundations all of July. It's super creamy texture makes it very easy to blend and it has a solid medium-full coverage. Perfect shade match for me (310 Sun Beige), and it doesn't break down excessively throughout long, hot and humid days. I do have a full review on this and I will post the link to it at the end of this blog post.
Eyes:

Eyeshadows: NYX Trio in Golden/Rust/Walnut Bronze and Avon Single Eyeshadow in Champagne

  • All these eyeshadows are extremely pigmented, they have a soft and buttery texture and they translate beautifully on the eyes.

    NYX Trio:
  • Walnut Bronze on my eyes and with my skin tone, tends to come off as an extremely warm reddish bronze shade. However, the lighting in this picture dulls the shade and doesn't do it much justice.
  • Rust is a straight up reddish/coppery/cranberry type colour. It really differs to my eye depending on how light hits it. Absolutely love this shade, and I even have it in the original single shadow.
  • Golden...I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love gold!! Gold eyeshadows to me just scream wear me everyday, and on most days I do love to wear gold eyeshadows. Golden specifically strikes me as an antique gold. A perfect melting of yellow and bronze gold.

    Avon Single Eyeshadow
  • This is my go-to inner corner highlight. It is a metallic finish, although it is marketed as a shimmer eyeshadow, but nonetheless, its high shine finish brightens the inner corners of the eye making you look wide eyed and awake.
Eyeliner & Mascara:
Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in Noir & Jordana Best Lash Extreme in Black

Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Noir

  • I know you constantly hear about the Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Eyeliner, but these Exaggerate Eye Definers are awesome. They are very waterproof and smudge resistant, they are retractable pencils and they have a built-in smudger and sharpener. They are also extremely creamy, they glide onto the eye without pull or tugging the eye area. I use this to tighline, I use it on my upper lash liner and also on my waterline, if I'm feeling that look.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara in Black
  • Holy mascara Batman! This TT$20 mascara, has me gaga! Undoubtedly, this is one of the best mascaras I have ever used. It volumizes, and defines each eyelash effortlessly. My eyelashes look longer, more voluminous and defined without looking clumpy or laden with product. I haven't had any issues with it running, flaking off or smudging throughout the day. A little warning though, the brush which is a very traditional mascara wand, has the tendency to pick up a lot of excess product, so I'd advise cleaning the brush off a bit before applying it. I've been reaching for this more than my Maybelline The Rocket and L'Oreal Voluminious Lash-Out Butterfly mascaras.
Best Lash Extreme Mascara Wand
 Lips:

Lipliners: Avon Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Mystery Mauve and Avon Ultra Luxury Lip Liner in Neutral.

  • Recently, I've been really into lip balm and lip liner only. I've never been a huge fan of lip glosses, and I haven't been in much of a lipstick wearing mood. These two liners have been my immediate, every morning lip liners, and I even throw them into my makeup bag for light touch ups after lunch. I love the colours, but the texture of these lip liners are so amazing. They are extremely soft and pigmented.
  • I am in the process of hunting down similar colours to these because...Avon is no longer available in Trinidad and I do believe in the wider Caribbean (=_=').
'Tis the end of my July Makeup Favourites, and I hope you all enjoyed. I wanted to say thank you for the support on the return of Game Corner, I'm so happy to be reviving that series on the blog, so look out for more Game Corner posts in the coming months.
Do feel free to share some of your favourites from the month of July in the comments, I would love to hear from you all!
Until Friday, I hope you all have a productive and safe week. Stay happy, positive and healthy, and I will talk to you all very soon.
Bye guys (^_^)/

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation and Powder Review

Hello doves, I'm still very ill hence why this post is a little bit later than usual. My sinuses are congested, tonsils are painfully inflamed and I have really bad muscle aches, but I am going to fight through it to get this post up. It's going to be a concise post because I really need to get some rest. It's been over a week, and I'm feeling worse now than when I first got this cold.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation 310 Sun Beige

Holy crap, I love this stuff! My only wish is that it came with a pump. This shade matches me perfectly. If you need a reference I'm a W7 in L'Oreal True Match and NC44 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation. I've used this foundation with and without a primer for a week, ( I haven't worn makeup since I got sick...yikes!) and I have to say this foundation is awesome.

Firstly, it has a beautiful consistency, it's isn't overly thick but it is not at all watery. It's creamy and super lightweight and it blends like an absolute dream. I use my Real Techniques Expert Face brush, and buff the foundation into my skin. Super quick and easy.

The second thing I absolutely love about this foundation is the finish. The finish is not at all heavy or cake-y, your skin just looks demi-matte and naturally flawless. My makeup area is directly next to a window, so I usually use a mix of natural light  and artificial light to apply my makeup, so I can usually see off the bat if my foundation is looking heavy, and it never has.

Third, this foundation does indeed leave you looking poreless. I personally, have a lot of open pores on my cheeks and around my nose, but with this foundation, you can't tell and that makes me quite happy.

Finally, this foundation, does a pretty good job at keeping me matte. I have to blot a lot less with this particular foundation than usual. I usually have to blot every 2 hours, but with this I can get away for 4-5 hours straight without needing to blot (if used with powder), or 3-4 hours without blotting if used on it's own.

In conjunction with the Maybelline Matte and Poreless Powder, also in shade 310 Sun Beige, the longevity and oil control ability is really great.

Maybelline Matte and Poreless Powder 310 Sun Beige

N.B. I've rocked the powder sans foundation with just a bit of primer underneath, and the coverage is light/medium which is impressive for a pressed powder. It does a great job of controlling oil and evening the complexion.

I wore both to Ani-Market 2015 that took place here in Trinidad, and goodness me did this foundation hold out. I applied it at 8 am, I got wet in rain, got sweaty thanks to high humidity, spent hours walking around the convention with my friends, blotted once during lunch at 1pm, snapped a selfie with one of my best friends close to 3pm, and this is what my skin looked liked (I'm the one with the purple hair)...
Selfie @ Ani-Market 2015 with my Best Friend ChenChen
It's absolute craziness!

In the end, I absolutely love this foundation, before I tried it, I was on the fence about purchasing it, but I'm really happy that I did. It's about $60-$70TT which is cheaper than my beloved L'Oreal foundations, so I am positive that this will be a staple in my makeup collection.

This concludes this week's blog post, I'm going to go lie down and listen to some music and continue fighting this beast of a cold. I hope you all have a great weekend. Ramadan Mubarak to all of my Muslim readers, keep safe during this time. To all of my US readers, have a great 4th of July weekend, keep safe.

Question: If I were to get my hands on the L.A. Girl Nude Eyeshadow Palette, would you prefer to see a review with swatches, or a few looks and review? Comments are welcomed here.

Feel free to follow me on Instagram (@ladyjpsych) I post stuff there, and my Pinterest (J's Mind Palace). I also have a Tumblr under the same name, where I reblog all of the weird/nerdy/psych related things.
I hope everyone keeps safe, and stay happy, healthy and positive and I shall talk to you all very soon!

Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover

Hello dolls, this is my second time doing this post, because my Blogger app decided to crash before the full draft could upload....yay (n_n).

Today, I'm going to be talking all about the Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover.

In my last empties post, I spoke about the Simple Kind To Eyes Makeup Remover, and I mentioned that I was trying out something new to me because I've never used any eye makeup remover other than the one from Simple. Earlier this week, I posted a picture teasing this makeup remover, and all I can say is that this thing knocks my socks off.

Teaser Picture from my Instagram
Product Claims :
  • Quick-Break Action - Shake to activate dual phase formula. First Phase instantly breaks up stubborn makeup, even waterproof mascara, while the second washes it clean.
The claim that this makeup remover instantly breaks up makeup made me laugh in the store, and that was what drove me to try this out for myself. I will admit, this things breaks up makeup very quickly including waterproof mascara and long-lasting gel liner, and you need to use very little to get fast results and I didn't experience any irritation when using it.
What I do, is put 3-4 drops onto a cotton pad or cotton round, hold it to the eye, count to five (5) and then boom, eye makeup is gone.
It's great at cleaning up any fallout from shadows under the eye as long as you don't have on your base makeup, and I know a lot of people tend to do face first then eyes, I tend to do the opposite (eyes then face).

This makeup remover cost me approximately $50TT, which is really good price especially since my beloved Simple Makeup Remover is double that at $100TT. The Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover, does give you a lot more bang for your buck, it removes makeup faster than the Simple, it's gentle on the eyes as it has no perfume/fragrance and it's half the price of the Simple.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, I highly recommend it.

This therefore concludes, this weeks post. I know I haven't posted a May favourites just yet, I'm working on it and I am also working on a post all about my favourite single eyeshadows, that can be used to achieve a quick and simple one shadow look for work or school. Emilynoel83 on YouTube who runs Beauty Broadcast blog, did a video on this I believe last year, if not, the year before and I was never able to get it out of my head, so I figured I would do my own version of it.

Until next time, stay happy, stay positive and stay healthy and I will talk to you all soon.
Bye (^_^)/

Mascara Triple Threat Battle: L'Oréal Butterfly vs. Maybelline The Rocket vs. Maybelline Lash Sensational

Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog. This week, I'm going to be reviewing not one, but three mascaras. Now I know I've mentioned the L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara in previous blog post, but I was getting a bit bored of it so I decided to try a couple other mascara both from Maybelline, and do a comparison of them and try to figure out which one I like the most. So enough rambling, let's get on with the battle!

L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
Undoubtedly a favourite of mine, I've mentioned in multiple posts including favorites and it is my golden standard for mascara. It lengthens and voluminizes the lashes without clumping, smudging or flaking. It's one of the best mascaras I've ever used and it is a staple in my collection.

Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara
This mascara has had a lot of hype and raving reviews since it first launched, but I was quite skeptical about it so I never tried it out until two weeks ago, and man, do I regret not trying it out earlier. The volume and definition this mascara gives the lashes is crazy. It gives me a more dramatic look than the L'Oreal Butterfly and Miss Manga Mascaras ever did. I have to give credit to the wand on this mascara, it's a rubber want with small bristles that get to ever single lash, including the ones I didn't even know I had. The formula is a bit wet, even after being opened for two weeks, but it doesn't cause my eye lashes to droop throughout the day, it's practically weightless. Another major plus for this mascara is the fact that it does not give me crunchy, brittle eyelashes. I'm definitely going to be repurchasing this mascara, it is indeed now a must have for me!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (Waterproof)
I accidentally picked up this mascara in the waterproof formula, and I will admit I'm not the biggest fan of waterproof mascara, because the leave my lashes feeling crunchy and brittle, however, I got so excited when I finally found it, I didn't realise it was the waterproof formula but I figured I'd still give it a fair chance. Unfortunately, despite being waterproof, I experienced some smudging and flaking with this mascara, which usually never happens when I wear waterproof mascaras. Neither the Voluminous Butterfly nor The Rocket have smudged on me and they aren't waterproof, so I don't know why that smudging occurred.
Another thing I've noticed, despite this mascara having an identical want to the Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, the Lash Sensational gives the lashes a very natural and defined look, it's not very sensational at all in my opinion. It's a good mascara if you aren't looking for a dramatic lash look, or if you in a rush and just want to pop on some mascara without your lashes looking like you're wearing a lot of product. Honestly, with a name like Lash Sensational, I was expecting sensational lashes, but all I got was a natural and defined lashes. I will continue to use it, but I highly doubt I will be repurchasing this mascara.

Winner!: Mayybelline The Rocket Mascara!!!
I was completely blown off my feet with the impact this mascara has on my lashes and I will continue to purchase it. As much as I love my Voluminous Butterfly Mascara, The Rocket amplifies my lashes, truly intensifying the drama.

I thought about doing this post last night, which is why it's so late (if you're reading this on Friday). I had to wait until I got home from work to complete this post, so thank you all for being patient. Next week's post will be on time (hopefully). Thank you all for all of the support, stay clued to my Instagram (@ladyjpsych), where I'll be posting another IntsaReview during the week and maybe a few more selfies.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and great upcoming week, stay happy, healthy and positive and I shall see you soon!
